Students are enrolled in this course through the Student Services Office as preparation for successful completion of a Career and Technical Education program and/or GEDÂ® preparation. The purpose of the Applied Academics for Adult Education Program is to strengthen the studentâ€™s academic, technical and employability skill sets. This program strives to inspire and motivate students to become productive, self-sufficient members of the workforce. The Program is based upon the assessed needs of the individual and the academic and employ-ability requirements related to Floridaâ€™s Comprehensive Career and Adult Education programs.
Applied Academics for Adult Education Course
This course is designed for students who have tested at the equivalent of 9th grade and above but lack the required level of basic skills for completion of the CTE program in which they are enrolled. Students may or may not have earned a high school diploma. These courses have been revised to align with the secondary (9-12) college and career readiness standards.
You must be 18 years or older. Anyone under 18 must contact the Student Services Office for more information before entering class.
You must take a TABE Test (Test of Adult Basic Education) or have a current TABE score (within the last year).
The registration process for Applied Academics consists of:
1.Â Â Â Â Complete anÂ application form and pay the $15.00 application fee
2.Â Â Â Â Take TABE Test
3.Â Â Â Â Pay $ 30.00 Registration Fee
The tuition for Adult Education classes is $30.00 per session for students. There are three sessions per year; August-December, January-May, and June-July. Please contact the Student Services Office for more details.
4.Â Meet with the Guidance Director for enrollment
TABE testing is offered every Tuesday morning at 8:30 am and Thursday afternoon at 12:30 pm.
It is recommended you arrive 30 minutes early to process paperwork and make payment as you will not be allowed to test if you arrive late!!!
